Anointing of the Sick

What is the Anointing of the Sick?

The Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament through which the Church accompanies with prayer and hope those facing serious illness, major surgery, or the frailty that comes with age. Through this sacrament, Christ grants strength, peace, spiritual consolation and, according to His will, also the grace of recovery.

No one should wait until the final moments of life to receive this beautiful sacrament.

Requesting the Anointing

If you or a loved one would like to receive the Anointing of the Sick, please contact the Parish Office at (408) 258-7057, option 5.

Our clergy will do everything possible to respond to your request. Availability, however, will depend on the priests and on whether the person is within our parish boundaries or in an area near the parish.

If the person is hospitalized, we recommend first requesting the hospital chaplain, who can normally provide assistance more quickly.

In the event of an emergency outside office hours, you may contact the Diocese of San Jose emergency line at (408) 345-2445, who will help you locate an available priest.

We are here to walk with you
